Green light for £100m Manor Mills scheme

THE £100m Manor Mill development in Hull is set to go-ahead after the city’s council awarded a large casino licence for the site.
Apollo Resorts and Leisure is planning to open one of the first large casinos in the UK at Manor Mill, made possible by the last Government’s reform of gambling laws five years ago.
The venue will include restaurants and bars as well as a casino, bingo and betting while the wider mixed use scheme will feature Hull’s tallest building, a hotel and student accommodation.
Mike Nuttall, managing director of Apollo Resorts and Leisure, said: “Apollo is pleased to have been awarded the Provisional Statement, and after many years of work are committed to delivering Manor Mill Resort as a major new leisure and entertainment destination.
“We are very excited to be part of this scheme and to help deliver a significant number of local job, training and supply chain opportunities. We look forward to working with the community for many years to come and attracting lots of new tourists to Hull.”
The 480,000 sq ft Manor Mill scheme will be built on the Clarence Mill site next to Drypool Bridge and include a 23 storey residential tower, accommodation for 590 students and a 185 bedroom Hotel. A public plaza, restaurants, a sports bar, convenience store and car parking also feature in the scheme.
Philip Akrill, from Manor Property Group, said: “This is excellent news and we are delighted to be able to move this development forward. It will breathe new life into this derelict site and kick start the stalled regeneration of the east bank of the river Hull, creating a first class leisure destination in the city centre.”
