CLYDE Process Solutions (CPS) has received an early 2008 boost by winning an order worth £2.2m.

The contract will see the Doncaster-based firm, which specialises in handling solutions for process industries, work with one of Europe's leading cement manufacturers through its subsidiary Clyde Materials Handling (CMH).

According to CPS the unnamed manufacturer is seeking to install a series of

material handling systems that can manage the movement of cement from storage

silos to rail loading facilities.

In achieving this, the number of road movements will be significantly reduced not only benefiting the cement producer but the environment.

CMH will utilise its material handling expertise and pneumatic conveying technologies to create systems that will transport cement over half a kilometer from one silo to another then load and discharge cement into road and rail tankers.

Alex Stewart, chief executive of CPS, said that the firm's cement strategy had developed rapidly over the past two years and had seen CMH generate more than £6m in orders during that time.

"This order is the largest that CMH has secured in this particular market, and represents one of the largest orders the business has secured in our current trading period," he said,

"As announced in our interim results last month, we have been

encouraged by both the number of orders that are being converted and by the

value of contracts to be secured before our financial year-end on the 29

February 2008."

He added: "This is a significant order for the group to have secured and we will continue to focus on the many other opportunities that we have in our pipeline."
