JT boosts Yorkshire manufacturing with new product launch

A YORKSHIRE-BASED company which has a 28% share of the UK shower trays market is looking to expand production on the back of the launch of a revolutionary new product.
Leeds firm JT, which used to be known as Just Trays and has an annual turnover of £16m and is owned by private equity group Gresham, has invested £400,000 in new machinery to manufacture a new product called the JT BREEZE which is says is an “ultra strong” and “ultra light” shower tray.
The new tray, which took eighteen months to develop, was designed to fill a gap in the market and reduces labour costs for the housing sector because it only requires a one-man lift, conforming to strict HSE guidelines.
Paul Crossley, managing director of JT, said: “The interest from the building industry has been phenomenal; we are selling above target and have recently signed our first deal to supply JT BREEZE trays to Gladedale Homes, one of the UK’s biggest housing developers.
“The new machinery is an excellent long term investment; it is cost effective and very efficient, allowing us to produce over 30,000 trays each year from one machine.
“Our strength is the quality of our British designed and built product, as well as the speed in which we can react to market demands. We pride ourselves on innovation and our ability to turn round an order within seven to ten days.”
JT was founded in 1988 and employs 72 people at its Leeds headquarters and manufactures more shower trays than any other company in the UK, producing around 5,000 units a week.
