Forty years of fantastic plastic celebrated with new products
PLASTICS specialist Barkston Plastics has pledged to create 40 new products as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.
The Leeds-based firm said that the new product range will primarily be aimed at the consumer market with products such as a plastic aluminium kitchen splash-back, kitchen wall cladding, bathroom wall cladding, polycarbonate green house class and a garden cloche among the first to be launched.
A competition will also be held in August to invite universities and colleges across the UK to help in creating the remaining 35 products.
Tom Kiernan, Barkston Plastics’ managing director said that the firm has always been at the forefront of bringing the very latest hi-tech semi-finished plastics to market.
“Things have changed significantly over the years and changing times require a different outlook. We have always driven the company forward by offering quality service, listening to what our customers want and offering added value,” he said.
“Our market knowledge is outstanding and the great people we employ have always contributed one hundred percent. It is a combination of these things that has enabled us to remain competitive and retain customers for thirty and forty years at a time.”
Barkston was founded in 1969 and has always incorporated the latest design technology into the workplace.
In 2007, the company become the only manufacturer worldwide capable of offering laser welding subcontracting facilities on a commercial basis on products up to 2 x 1 metres high.
