Ambitious turnover plans ‘achievable’ says Environ

A ROTHERHAM-based health and safety management specialist is looking to double its turnover by more than £1m over the next four years.

Environ Safety Management has seen its turnover top £600,000 following a year of intense growth exceeding last year’s figure of £530,000.

It is now working towards a £1.2m target, which will see it double its health and safety specialist workforce.

Environ has capitalised on companies having to comply with an ever-growing portfolio of health, safety and environmental regulations, and is now a niche provider of these services.

It has seen the training arm of the company grow after securing preferred status on national contracts with high profile clients including Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Bovis lend Lease.

Paul Alvey, director of Environ, said: “Health and safety consultancy has always been our core business but in the last 12 months we have sought to diversify to respond to the economic climate and create new revenue streams and niche, high value markets.

“Training has become central to Environ’s services and is tailor-made to suit the needs of each individual business. More and more of our work is coming via word of mouth and we have established an enviable reputation in the industry. The continued growth of this side of the business is key to its strategic development.”

After starting life as a one-man business servicing specialist parent company Horbury Group in 2004, Environ has expanded to employ seven full-time consultants working primarily in the construction, engineering and manufacturing industries.

It now delivers a range of solutions to industry, including accredited training packages from the Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association (PASMA), the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and the Institution of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH).

Training offered includes risk assessment, manual handling, accident management, general safety awareness training plus Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) packages.

Environ is also planning to launch an asbestos surveying arm to the business.
