Lawyer makes move to new role

LAW FIRM Gordons has launched a corporate banking department following the recruitment of Paddy Sturman, previously senior associate in the banking group at Addleshaw Goddard.

Mr Sturman has joined the Bradford and Leeds-based firm as a partner to create a new department providing specialist banking services which will complement Gordons' commercial property and corporate offers.

Paul Ayre, Gordons' managing partner, said: “We are delighted that Paddy has joined us. The creation of a corporate banking department is a key element of our controlled growth strategy. He is an excellent and ambitious lawyer with a great reputation in the banking world.

“Paddy's expertise covers corporate banking, acquisition finance, real estate investment and development finance allowing us to immediately provide clients with an extended range of services.”

Mr Sturman trained at Addleshaw Goddard and qualified into the banking group in 2001. He has acted for a wide range of lenders and spent time on secondment at HSBC and Yorkshire Bank.

He said: “I chose to make the move to Gordons principally because I was drawn to the challenge of building a specialist banking practice within what I see as the most dynamic law firm in the region.”
