Lifestyle Latest: Tyke bar for The Gateway; Browns prepares for latest launch

A 4,200 sq ft bar, formerly owned by the Suburban Bar Group, has re-opened under new management at the £150m Leeds office development The Gateway.

The new independent owners of Tyke, David Wall, Andy Higgins and Shaun Fountain, have secured a five year lease on the unit in a deal completed by Andrew Watt of Colliers.

Mr Wall said: “The bar is set to introduce an authentic Yorkshire slant on Leeds’ bar and restaurant offering, with sports coverage, Wi-Fi access and an extensive bar selection.

“We hope to bring a new lease of life to The Gateway.”

The scheme is already home to tenants Etap Hotel, Hirst and Miller Hair Studio, Motiv8 Gym, Aroma coffee house, Gateway Express Newsagents, Breast Cancer Haven, FCm Travel Solutions and Corporate Traveller.

BROWNS Bar & Brasserie, owned by Mitchells & Butlers, has launched a restaurant in Sheffield.

The new site in St Pauls Chambers, St Pauls Parade opened its doors last week..

General manager David Lawson said: “We’re delighted to be opening a Browns in Sheffield on the site of the Ha Ha Bar and Grill and are confident that the mix of food and drink will appeal to consumers in Yorkshire.”
