FD Awards celebrate decade of change
THE Yorkshire Finance Director of the Year Awards are celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2011 and the last decade has seen some major changes in the demands of the role.
Finance directors have always had to keep pace with an ever changing web of accounting rules and regulations but that has been compounded over the last ten years by a technological revolution and the most serious downturn for generations.
The credit crunch put FDs in the spotlight more than ever before as the ability to explain a business’s position and direction convincingly became the key to maintaining the confidence of banks and other financiers.

The 2011 award categories are:
- best finance director of a plc;
- best finance director of a Ltd company;
- best finance director of an SME (up to £25m turnover);
- best finance director of a private equity company;
- young finance director of the year (up to 40 years of age);
- best interim finance director;
- outstanding achievement award.
Judging will take place between June and August with the Yorkshire black tie awards dinner being held at Rudding Park on September 21.
