A1 link road win for McAlpine
ALFRED McAlpine has won £350m of new contracts which include the construction of a new A1 link road in Yorkshire.
The construction and support services group today announced that it had secured a contract to build the A1 link road between Hemsworth and Barnsdale Bar near Pontefract in WestYorkshire.
That work, combined with civil engineering contracts on roads in Dorset is worth £150m for the company while building contracts for retail and housing schemes in the West Midlands and health centres in Stockport are valued at more than £60m.
Its highways maintenance business has also won work with Derbyshire County Council and it has also won £90m of new work in its business services division, including logistics services for Aggregate Industries in Scotland.

In December the group agreed a takeover by rival Carillion which should be completed by next month.
