Enterprising tech firms attract investment

CONNECT Yorkshire has awarded £4,000 of consultancy support to four young Yorkshire companies as part of its Inv£storQuest investment challenge.

The four winning finalists included Ecotech Enterpises, which develops, manufactures and distribute products that aid water and waste management utilities and Arterius, which has devised a new fully biodegradable coronary stent.

Energy Optimizers and The Intelligent Marketing Group also attracted investment.

Each company had 10 minutes to pitch their inspired business idea to investors from Viking Fund, YFM Group, Aquarius Equity Partners and Business Enterprise Fund.

The panel selected four companies each to receive £1,000 of consultancy advice following their presentations.

Lee & Priestley, Haseltine Lake, Knowles Warwick and Turn Key are among the firms offering advice.

Sandy Gillan of Ecotech Enterpises said; “The mentoring we received pre and post event has been extremely valuable.

“The contacts we made through Connect Yorkshire’s event and the consultancy support prize of £1000, has made a positive contribution to Ecotech Enterpises ”

Nick Butler, chief executive of Connect Yorkshire, said: “This year’s investment challenge has unearthed a broad spectrum of investment propositions and once again demonstrates that entrepreneurship and inventiveness is alive and well in the Yorkshire.”
