Future’s bright for Langleyscott

A RECRUITMENT consultancy which launched at the start of the recession is looking to expand after winning work with high profile clients, including a number of Premier League football clubs.

And the team behind Langleyscott – Euan Gibson, Jonathan Johnson and Luigi Puliga – believe there are signs that the economy is improving with firms looking to recruit staff.

The trio belive their “candidate driven” approach has allowed the fledgling Leeds-based business to prosper despite the downturn and now the company is looking to add new members to its team.

Other clients include world leading food manufacturers and executive search firms.

Mr Jones, who is also director of temporary recruitment agency RDUK, launched Langleyscott last year and asked former colleague Mr Gibson to join him.

Mr Puliga, who moved to the UK from Sardinia 15 years ago, has recently joined the business and specialises in recruiting sales and marketing personnel.

Mr Gibson said: “We looked at the recruitment sector, saw it was struggling, and wanted to do the opposite. For me this was a great opportunity to start up a company.

“We’ve seen a definite shift in the market recently and things are improving. We’re looking to grow the business quite quickly from now.

“Because for us cash flow is constant we’re in a strong position.”

Mr Gibson added that he believed there was “light at the end of the tunnel” in terms of the economic downturn.

He said Langleyscott’s policy was to understand its clients and have a personal relationship with its candidates, which he said other recruitment firms did not concentrate enough on.

“It’s about being flexible and being able to analyse the market. A lot of recruitment businesses have gone out of business because they’re not flexible enough.”

Langleyscott deals with positions mainly in the £30,000 to £70,000 salary bracket and in sectors including HR, finance and restructuring.

Mr Puliga said the business, which also has operations in Manchester, Birmingham and London, was planning to recruit new staff to complement its growing client base after Christmas.

“We want to take people on who will hit the ground running,” he added. “If we carry on like this we won’t get to Christmas without taking people on.”
