Seize opportunities now and ‘thrive’ in the upturn SMEs told

MORE than 300 business professionals heard how they must seize opportunities now if they want to be ready for any economic upturn at two Lloyds TSB Commercial events.
The events in Leeds and Rotherham were held to help advise SMEs prepare for economic recovery as the region begins to emerge from recession.
As well as practical guidance, delegates were offered specialist advice by Lloyds TSB and independent experts from Business Link, local accoutants and law firms.
Phil Hawker, area director for Lloyds TSB Commercial in Yorkshire, who hosted the events, said: “Recession has weighed heavily on UK businesses and it is easy to see why talk of a recovery might bring welcome relief.
“But in the same way that we have encouraged firms to take action to survive the downturn they will also need to prepare for the return to growth.”
He said the shape and scale of any recovery was still uncertain but that one thing was clear – businesses already looking towards the upturn and planning how to make the most of it would thrive.
It’s important for firms in Yorkshire to begin preparing for the opportunities the upturn presents,” Mr Hawker added.
“These events were a chance to bring together the local business community and discuss how companies can move forward and seize an advantage over competitors.”
The event was organised as part of a campaign from Lloyds TSB Commercial to help businesses across the UK benefit as the recovery gathers pace.
