Humber Business Week gets underway

TOURISM will be one of the main focuses today as Humber Business Week gets underway.

Businesses will discuss how the region can benefit from visitors to next year’s Olympic Games at the Visit Hull and East Yorkshire annual conference.

It is just one of a series of events on day one of Humber Business Week that will end on Friday with the Yorkshire International Business Convention taking place in Bridlington alongside the event in Harrogate.

Other major topics for discussion during the week will include women in business, the relationship between business and sport and the area’s future as a hub for the renewable energy sector.

Kath Lavery, Business Week organiser and chairman of Hull and East Yorkshire Community Foundation said: “Few people would expect Hull and the Humber region to pull off an event as extensive and diverse as this, let alone host the world’s biggest business event.

“But Business Week goes from strength to strength every year and attracts delegates and speakers from around the globe. Everybody who is anybody wants to get involved.”

More than 30 events will take place as part of Humber Business Week.
