New eco-fleet for Crossroads Truck and Bus

YORKSHIRE-based Crossroads Truck and Bus has further underlined its ongoing commitment to reducing emissions and costs by investing more than £200,000 in a new fleet of eco-friendly courtesy cars.

The firm, which specialises in Volvo commerical vehicles, said the move was in response to an Energy Savings Trust and Fleetworx commissioned report, which showed that supplying more eco-friendly courtesy vehicles would help the development of a new environmental transport policy.

Crossroad’s purchase of 25 new vehicles from Volvo’s DRIVe and Ford’s ECOnetic range will reduce the company’s carbon emissions by 26%.

Martin Cronin, managing director of Crossroads, said: “The renewal of the customer service fleet has been a significant investment for Crossroads and one that re-enforces our commitment to developing an environmental transport policy.

“A reduction in emissions directly correlates with improved fuel consumption and so we will see a significant reduction in fuel uplift as a result. The Department of Transport is looking to lower the overall carbon emissions of commercial vehicles by 14% over the next decade and this is our way of contributing.”

Crossroads Truck and Bus was established in 1956 and is a privately owned Volvo commercial truck dealer with 12 depots located across Yorkshire, Humberside and Lincolnshire.

The company, whose clients include ASDA, Semex, Londis and Next, also operates four managed workshops, which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.
