Cricket hero Darren Gough stars in Costcutter adverts

YORKSHIRE film company Mezzo Films has created a new TV advertising campaign starring cricket hero Darren Gough as the new face of Costcutter – one of the UK’s largest convenience store chains.

The Yorkshire cricketer stars in a series of adverts for the York-based business as produced by Leeds-based Mezzo.

The advert not only sees Mr Gough add a dash of his trademark cheekiness but demonstrate his fancy footwork to charm staff and customers.

Mezzo Films’ executive producer and director Mark Platts said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Darren on Costcutter’s campaign.

“Using Darren’s famous moves we were able to add a light-hearted edge to filming, which forms the overall feel of the commercial. We are excited to see the advertisements air and hope that they can achieve Costcutter’s key objectives.”

Over the next 12 months Mezzo Films, which has been working with Costcutter for 10 years, will produce a range of different commercials each promoting special product offers and all featuring Mr Gough.

Jill Morris, head of marketing at Costcutter, said: “Mezzo Films impressed us with its quirky approach which immediately appealed to our target audience.

“Working with Darren Gough has been a real pleasure and I think the combination of his unique charm and Mezzo Film’s creative and technical expertise has resulted in a series of adverts that showcase Costcutter as one of the UK’s best- loved convenience stores.”
