Morrisons buys Flower World

SUPERMARKET chain Morrisons has made another acquisition in the shape of £34m turnover business Flower World.
The company is already a significant supplier to Morrisons and the Bradford-based firm’s chief executive Dalton Philips said the supermarkt wanted to “excel” in flower retailing.
The deal follows the Morrisons taking a major step into online retailing with the purchase of Kiddicare and buying a 10% stake in US online grocery retailer Fresh Direct.
It is thought Morrisons paid between £5m and £10m for Derby-based Flower World which was established in 1987.
Law firm Gordons advised Morrisons on the deal.
