Green light for business park growth

PLANNING permission has been granted for a new 40,000 sq ft warehouse in York, creating one of the largest industrial facilities in the city.

The new planning consent provides a combined total of 116,000 sq ft of available space over two units at Allerthorpe Business Park, which is home to one of York’s biggest facilities, the 76,000 sq ft former TDG distribution centre.

Allerthorpe Business Park is a 12-acre development which was bought earlier this year by a private consortium funded by Mitre Capital and five private Yorkshire-based investors.

Joint agents, AWS and Lawrence Hannah, believe it provides some of the best value space available.

AWS’s Nick Arundel said: “The owners have sensibly set quoting levels at around £3.70 sq ft and depending on lease terms, can significantly undercut that level.

Allerthorpe Business Park is also home to Business Post’s main North East distribution depot covering the Teesside to North Lincolnshire area, Teamwork Handling and the headquarters of the Phoenix Software Group of Companies.
