IoD introduces new SME award entry

THE Institute of Directors (IoD) in Yorkshire has added a new category for its sixth annual Director of the Year Awards.

The 2010 event will include a Small and Medium Sized Company Director award for the first time.

John Thompson, regional director of IoD Yorkshire, said: “The awards are open to anyone of director level or equivalent status but historically it has been Yorkshire’s larger companies and organisations that have entered.

“It is hoped that the new award category will encourage those smaller organisations that contribute hugely to the success of the region to consider entering themselves into the 2010 awards to ensure they are acknowledged for the important role they play.”

Last year’s winners included Neil Gaydon, chief executive officer of Pace who scooped the Yorkshire Director of the Year award and Dr Graham Honeyman, chief executive of Sheffield Forgemasters International who was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in acknowledgement of his inspirational contribution to the manufacturing company.

Entries to the awards can be submitted online up until midnight on Wednesday 26th May 2010. To enter or for further information please visit www.dotya.co.uk
