Fusion IP appoints Techtran co-founder as non-executive director

FUSION IP, the Sheffield-based university commercialisation firm, has appointed Dr Alison Fielding as non-executive director.

Dr Fielding, who is is currently chief technology officer at IP Group, joins the Fusion board following the company’s £3.2m funding raising that saw IP Group take a 19.8% stake.

She joined IP Group when it acquired Techtran Group- a technology transfer company that provides commercialisation services to Leeds University – of which she was co-founder.

Prior to Techtran Dr Fielding spent five years at McKinsey & Co where she consulted primarily to the pharmaceutical and health care sectors and four years as a development chemist for Zeneca.

Her current role with IP Group sees her responsible for the evaluation and commercialisation of intellectual property originating from the 10 research intensive universities with which IP Group has partnerships.
