Warm Front job boost for Yorkshire

UP to 40 news jobs have been created in Yorkshire following a key contract win by The Insulation Company (TIC).
Darlington-based TIC is looking to employ the new recruits after being awarded a contract to provide heating and insulation to households across the North with North Yorkshire one of its main targets.
The contract, which will run over three years, is part of the Government’s Warm Front scheme and covers installations for electric, gas, oil, LPG and solid fuel heating, cavity wall and loft insulation.
TIC said it was conscious of the need to help boost the regional economy by using Northern suppliers and local tradesmen and will be looking to enlarge its workforce to cope with increased demand in all areas it covers.
Monique Purdy, managing director of TIC, said: “This is a tremendous reward for our total dedication and for giving the very best service to the thousands of householders we work with to help save energy.
“We will be starting our recruitment drive shortly and look forward to training up the new teams.”
Two million households across the country and nearly 180,000 in the North East have now been helped through Warm Front since it began in 2000.
More than £2.2bn has been spent giving people on qualifying benefits, including pensioners and young families, the peace of mind that they can afford to heat their homes in the winter.
The Chancellors’ pre budget report gave an £150m extra investment for Warm Front insulation scheme, which will help 65,000 households.
