Yorkshire entrepreneur publishes thrifty guide to starting-up

A NEW wave of money saving savvy entrepreneurs look set to launch their business careers thanks to a Yorkshire businessman.

Jonathan Yates, founder of vitamin and minerals supplements firm Santeau, has authored a post-credit crunch business start-up guide called ‘Freesourcing: How to Start a Business with No Money’.

The book acts as a ‘road map’ to all free or low-cost resources available such as taking advantage of alternative computer operating systems (open source).

The author also explains the “freemium” concept where companies offer pared-down technologies or services for free over the internet in the hope that as the business grows it will implement or use an upgraded paid-for version.

Other money-saving initiatives include getting the first set of business cards printed for free.

Mr Yates said: “There’s an entire industry dedicated to helping you take your idea and do something with it.

“The Government pulls out all the stops to help people with ideas translate them into start-ups and then into profitable businesses.”
