Trio of lettings for Arena Quarter leisure destination

The owners of Merrion Way in the Arena Quarter said the scheme has reinforced its position as a key leisure destination in Leeds after attracting a trio of operators which are due to open this Spring.

Landlord Town Centre Securities and agents Fox Lloyd Jones and Metis, have announced that The Dockyard, which has two bars in Manchester, is making its way across the Pennines for venue number three.

The second key arrival will be the first Bengal Brasserie in Leeds City centre. On the back of successful venues in Burley, Oakwood, Wetherby and York, the new 120 cover restaurant will have a key position opposite the First Direct Arena.

There will also be a 74 seater new concept Burger King in a unit fronting Merrion Way.

A further three retail/leisure units from 2,367 sq ft are also under construction as part of the redevelopment of the 170,000 sq ft Merrion House development and will be available towards the end of the year.

The offices above the units have been pre-let to Leeds City Council for their HQ and more than 2000 employees will be moving in from January 2018.

Louise Larking of Fox Lloyd Jones, said: “There is no doubt the opening of the First Direct Arena has made this one of the key leisure destinations in the city centre. This is reinforced by the number of high profile tenants that are keen to have a presence in this part of town.

“In addition, once the council employees move in and the ‘One Stop Centre’ opens there will be even more pedestrian traffic around Merrion Way.

“This is a very exciting time for an area that was at the forefront of leisure activities when it was originally developed by Arnold Ziff in 1964.”
