M62 reopened after police incident caused 13-mile tailbacks

The M62 motorway has now reopened between junctions 25 and 26, but congestion remains heavy all the way back to junction 22.

3.25pm

Delays have been extended to two-and-a-half hours on the eastbound carriageway. Meanwhile drivers heading west face 30 minute delays after a broken down vehicle caused a lane closure near junction 23.

Tailbacks now stretch back 13 miles to junction 22 as West Yorkshire Police continue to deal with the incident. A woman is reported to have fallen from a bridge and sustained “serious injuries”.

2.40pm
Delays are continuing to grow, and now stretch back to junction 22, with delays and diversions estimated to be adding two hours to drivers’ journeys.

2.20pm
The police have closed the M62 eastbound between Huddersfield and Bradford, with delays already up to more than 90 minutes.

The motorway is closed eastbound between J25 and J26 for an incident, with West Yorkshire Police in attendance. Heavy congestion is back to junction 23.

Road users are advised to follow the “Hollow Squared” diversion symbols via the A644 – A62 then join the A638 and continue until re-joining the M62 at J26.

Road users are also advised to allow extra time for their journey.
