Sheffield-based pump manufacturer Ernest H Hill, which has been in business since 1841, has relocated to larger premises after acquiring a new site.

The company has acquired a site on Longacre Way in Holbrook which have been renovated and extended following designs by Malin Hewins from Watsons of Barnsley to accommodate the firm’s growing operations.

Dominic Hewins, owner of Ernest H Hill, said: “We have the most incredible and amazing team in place at Ernest H Hill and they are at the centre of everything we do.  As well as needing more space to run our operation, our decision to move was also based upon our desire to invest in our surroundings to create a comfortable working environment for the team to enjoy.”

About to enter its 176th year, Ernest H Hill manufactures pumps, lubrication, garage and workshop equipment under the Hill Pumps brand. The firm also produces pumps to charge air rifles under the Hill Air Pump brand.  Originally focused on the domestic automotive market, Ernest H Hill has expanded during the last 20 years into a broader range of industries such as aviation, agricultural, industrial and leisure.

Today, in the region of 70% of the company’s activities are carried out internationally compared with only 30% in 1997.

Funding for the acquisition and development of the new premises has been supported by a deal with RBS represented by Daniel Jacklin. Lombard, the bank’s asset finance arm has also provided funding for new machinery represented by Natalie Morris.

Hewins added: “We are thrilled with our new premises and are looking forward to this next chapter in our company’s history.  For the last 20 years we have operated from a rented site at Meadowbrook Park but had begun to outgrow the facility.  Purchasing our own premises and making an investment into our own property has always been then next step and I am pleased that thanks to our hard work and the support we have received from RBS we have been able to achieve our ambitions.”

Daniel Jacklin, relationship director at RBS, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to support the team at Ernest H Hill with funding for the new premises.  The team has created a first class facility that not only meets production requirements but is enjoyable for its workforce.”
