IT firm relocates to iconic York site

Vicky Harmer from PowerON and Phil Hill from S Harrison celebrate moving into Stanley Harrison House in York.

An IT solutions and consultancy business has expanded into new premises on the site of the former Terry’s chocolate factory in York.

PowerON, which provides IT management and cloud automation solutions, has signed a three year lease at the 1,290 sq ft ground floor office at the recently refurbished Stanley Harrison House.

All of the space at the Stanley Harrison House development, which S Harrison has restored and owns, is now full. The property development company is also headquartered within the Grade II listed building, which was formerly known as The Time Office when Terry’s produced chocolate on the site.

Vicky Harmer from PowerON says: “Our business, which also has offices in Surrey and Lincolnshire opened in York at the University of York’s IT Centre campus with two staff, under two years ago. Due to our rapid growth we moved to offices within a business centre in Nether Poppleton and since then we have grown significantly, from 11 to 26 people. As a result we needed to find a new location that could accommodate our ever expanding team, whilst also being easily accessible with good road and rail links.

“We are a modern, innovative business and wanted our new head office to reflect this whilst also providing us with sufficient space moving forward as we continue growing, and Stanley Harrison House certainly ticks all the boxes for us.”

Phil Hill from S Harrison says: “It’s an innovative building to work in, and is already home to three of the region’s leading privately owned businesses, Springfield Healthcare Group, LHL Group and ourselves. We are delighted to welcome PowerON to Stanley Harrison House, which means that all 8,400sq ft of office space is now fully occupied.”
