Online equestrian retailer goes into administration

An equestrian retailer based in Halifax has gone into administration.

Equestrian Clearance Warehouse, trading as Equestrian.com appointed administrators from KPMG on 2 June, who are now looking for a buyer for the business including stock that is not subject to retention of title claims, fixtures and fittings and its IT systems, and other assets.

12 staff were reportedly made redundant after the business suffered falling sales and cash flow difficulties and ceased to trade. It operated from a commercial site at Riverside Offices on Bowers Mill Branch Road.

KPMG associate partner and joint administrator Howard Smith, who along with Jonathan Charles Marston is working on the case, said: “This case demonstrates the pressure that cash flow difficulties can put on a business and its ability to trade.  All interested parties in buying the business or its assets should come forward as soon as possible.”

Founded by listed director Lorraine Meadowcroft around 25 years ago, it started out as a small tack shop before growing into an online retail business.
