Grade II-listed landmark sold for £1m

Grade II-listed York building Bathurst House has been sold to a private investor for nearly £1m.
Property advisors Savills have sold the site on micklegate for more than the £995,000 guide price on behalf of a private client.
The landmark Georgian property, which dates back to the 1720s, was historically a private dwelling and hotel as well as a former home to York YWCA and York University.
In the 1980s, the building was converted into offices and has since been occupied by BHP Chartered Accountants, on a lease expiring in December this year.
Paddy Carter, director at Savills, said: “This landmark property attracted significant interest due to its future development potential, subject to the necessary planning consent. We are pleased with the strong sale price achieved on behalf of our client.”
