People: Dealmaker boosts Clarion’s corporate team; Surveyor hire for property firm; and more

Alex Birch is the latest senior lawyer to join Clarion’s corporate team.

Her appointment increases Clarion’s corporate team to 11.

With 11 years’ experience in corporate law, Birch takes on the position of senior associate.  Primarily focussing on M&A work, she also advises on private equity transactions, management buy-outs and corporate re-organisations.

CRT Property Investments, a subsidiary of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, based in Barnsley, has appointed James Wilgose as property investment and development surveyor.

Wilgose, who is currently on a placement year from Sheffield Hallam University where he is studying real estate, will support property investment and development director Shaun O’Brien to manage the company’s growing portfolio of commercial and residential property.

He will also assist with identifying new investment and development opportunities and oversee the renewables, social enterprise and lease management side of the organisation.

O’Brien said: “Our portfolio has grown substantially over the past three years; with our variety of new developments and investments already making a positive difference to the coalfield communities. Where possible, we create jobs and apprenticeship schemes during the build phase and then provide access to affordable commercial units when complete.

“It is great to have James on-board, he is already proving to be a valuable asset to the business. I’m confident that through his role, James will get a real insight into the property sector, as well as the people and communities that we support.”

Print and direct mail specialist DMP has welcomed marketing executive Linda Furniss to the Keighley-based team.

Furniss comes from a marketing career in the financial services sector and a long background in tourism promotion in the Lake District, where she worked for almost 20 years.

Already bringing fresh ideas for promoting the DMP and Hello Market brands she has plans in place to develop strong social media and cross media campaigns.
She said: “Following my move to Yorkshire from a tourism-based career, I was keen to start a new challenge and felt the opportunity at DMP was too good to miss.  I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and working with the team to develop the DMP and Hello Market brands.”

People’s Holdings has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Ben Bisco as head of marketing.

He brings experience from senior roles as head of digital at JD Williams and digital strategy director at Home agency.

The marketing services group has grown quickly in the last two years to now employ 85 people at its Leeds headquarters. It specialises in supporting businesses in the finance and legal sectors with business development by connecting social media and digital marketing with sophisticated customer management.

Bisco said: “People’s Holdings sits at the forefront of social advertising and data driven marketing. We have big plans for our customer acquisition and conversion services as we enter our next stage of growth. I’m excited to be part of such an excellent team.”

The move follows the recent appointment of Vikki Macleod as chief executive who joins the business from senior roles at Tesco Bank and Virgin Money, where she was director of insurance and new partnership product development.
