TheBusinessDesk.com backs prestigious charity ball as legendary soul band gets set for firecracking performance

TheBusinessDesk.com has pledged its support as media partner for one of Yorkshire’s most prestigious charity events.

The Firecracker Ball, which raises funds for Barnardo’s causes across the region, will take place on Saturday November 11 at Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate.

Kayley Worsley, Yorkshire editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “TheBusinessDesk.com is really pleased to once again be supporting this fantastic charity event. I’m sure that the evening will be a huge success, offering a great evening of entertainment for a very worthy cause.”

Organisers of the event, which this year will be themed ‘Alice in Wonderland’, have also announced that one of the most successful bands of the Seventies will headline the ball.

Hot Chocolate had at least one hit every year from 1970 to 1984. One of their most famous songs, You Sexy Thing, made the Top 10 in three different decades.

Kirsty Guy, senior relationship manager from Barnardo’s said: “Hot Chocolate have seen their hits break records all around the world, and won award after award. They are global stars, who make everyone reminisce about the good old days of disco. When they agreed to come and perform at the Firecracker Ball I honestly couldn’t believe it.

“There is absolutely no argument that they are the biggest act ever to perform for us, and I’m sure their presence will help us to better last year’s astonishing fundraising efforts.”

The 2016 Firecracker Ball raised over £285,000, meaning the total raised since it first started supporting Barnardo’s in 2002 is now close to £2.3m.

Guy added: “We are really grateful to the companies and individuals who help us deliver this fantastic event to the highest standards, in the most cost-effective way, giving our participants the greatest support.

“Funds are helping to make sure Barnardo’s in Yorkshire can continue to offer services that are in strong demand by the local community, including support for young people leaving care, young carers, family support including a holiday club for children with complex health needs including physical disabilities, life limiting conditions and learning disabilities.”

Leeds based Evans Property Group retains lead sponsorship of the event with UBS as co-sponsors. Source Marketing Communications, Phillip Stoner the Jeweller, and Team Print Services have also confirmed sponsorship.
