£35m industrial scheme approved

National property developer Stoford Developments has joined forces with Lazarus Properties to jointly develop a £35m industrial scheme in Doncaster.

A reserved matters application has been approved by Doncaster Council for a 404,000 sq ft development at Hatfield Lane, Armthorpe.

The plans for the 30.11-acre site include two units with ancillary offices, one of 251,500 sq ft and another of 152,500 sq ft. Both are earmarked for B1, B2 and B8 uses.

The area has seen several developments over the past few years, including I-Port, a six million sq ft logistics park and strategic freight rail terminal, and Doncaster Distribution Park.

Dan Gallagher, joint managing director at Birmingham-based Stoford, said: “There has been a significant growth in the industrial and warehouse sector over the past five years and we identified the land off Hatfield Lane to be a prime site for a warehouse development.

“Now that the reserved matters application has been approved we can prepare for construction to begin.”

“This will be yet another superb development in a strategic area of South Yorkshire, close to major network roads and the M18, bringing much-needed jobs to the region.”

Lazarus Properties is based in Doncaster and is a commercial and residential property company.

It owns and operates more than 275,000 sq ft of leisure and retail properties in Doncaster town centre, plus an additional 100,000 sq ft throughout the country as well as about 75,000 sq ft of offices and 1 million sq ft of industrial stock.

Lazarus Properties owns the site. Glyn Smith, director at Lazarus Properties, said: “Here at Lazarus we are excited at the prospect of delivering this important new development in partnership with Stoford, whose expertise in delivering projects of this nature is well known.

“This long-term investment will provide the region with another key warehouse and distribution facility.”

The proposed development site is located just off junction 4 of M18, and just over eight miles from the A1(M), providing excellent motorway links to the national network.
