Series of lettings at landmark Leeds office building

A series of lettings to seven businesses has been completed at a landmark Leeds office building.

The serviced office and traditional lease lettings, totalling more than 10,850 sq ft are on the first, second and third floors of The Tannery on Kirkstall Road, Bracken Business Centres’ headquarters, which the company acquired in a multi-million pound deal in 2016.

The lettings include two companies new to Leeds, domestic appliance spare parts manufacturer Qualtex, which has taken 1, 862 sq ft, and domiciliary care company Nurse Plus is leasing 1,326 sq ft for a new regional office.

Other lettings in serviced office agreements are to managed IT provider, Rabb-IT, which has expanded to 1,140 sq ft; communications technology business The Technology Group, which has more than quadrupled its space to 3,150 sq ft and business process transformation company Tribus Digital, which has expanded into 1,100 sq ft.

Traditional lettings have also been made to Pixel Builders, which has taken 1,300 sq ft and healthcare staffing company, 24/7 Healthcare which occupies 1,000 sq ft.

The lettings follow the departure of debt-recovery law firm BW Legal, which had outgrown available space with an expansion from two staff to 200 since it first took space at The Tannery as a start-up six years ago.

Bracken Business Centres group centre manager, Denise McGeachy, says: “BW Legal’s rapid growth from a start-up to a significant corporate was a model example of the benefits of serviced office support and the flexibility we offer to enable businesses to grow while reducing their risks.

“We are delighted to have re-let the vacated space quickly to seven businesses, including two new to Leeds. The re-lets allow those that have relocated within the Tannery to expand without even having to change their address. A trend across our centres is that of creative agencies moving into Leeds from other Yorkshire towns to take advantage of the availability of qualified staff.”

Bracken Business Centres now has 1,800 sq ft available to let at The Tannery which was built in 1876 and initially used to make shoes and harnesses.

Bracken Business Centres, a sister company of Chartford Homes, also has serviced office centres in Albion Court, Albion Place, Leeds, originally built as a Church Institute in 1848, which opened in 2012 and Calls Wharf, The Calls, which opened in 2008 and has 33 offices on four floors with 20,000 sq ft of office space.
