December turnover up 14% to £13m at Driver Hire

Bradford-based transport and logistics specialist recruitment company Driver Hire has recorded a 14%  rise in turnover to £13.1m in December.

Strong demand nationwide for Driver Hire’s team of temporary workers boosted the firm’s December turnover when compared to 2016.

Chris Chidley, chief executive, said: “Once again there’s been a big demand for our service in the run-up to Christmas.  As in previous years, the increasing percentage of online retail sales – which create more home deliveries – has played a significant part in our success. In addition, our core national account customers, for whom high quality reliable service really matters, have also kept us exceptionally busy.”

Strong trading throughout the financial year to date means that, across Driver Hire’s nationwide network, nearly a third of Driver Hire’s 102 offices have individually passed £1m turnover; two offices have achieved £2m turnover, with a further six on track to reach that landmark within the next month.

It’s not just in the UK that Driver Hire’s business is reaching record levels. An outstanding December trading performance by its Australian arm has delivered year-on-year growth of 60% for the period, with network turnover of £1.51m (AUS$ 2.62m). As part of that, its Brisbane office recorded turnover of £116k (AUS$ 202k) in a single week – an all-time record not only for Driver Hire Australia, but for Driver Hire as a whole.

Chidley added: “Our ability to deliver the right people to meet the demands of our customers, along with a highly compliant 24/7, 365 days a year service continues to set us in good stead. That is being reflected with strong trading, right across our network, both here in the UK and in Australia.”
