Multi-million pound racecourse hotel scheme moves forward

A milestone has been reached in the creation of the new multi-million pound Hilton Garden Inn Doncaster Racecourse hotel.

A topping out ceremony took place this week to mark the completion the structure of the Hilton Garden Inn Doncaster Racecourse, which is expected to welcome guests in the summer.

The 154-guestroom hotel marks Hilton’s debut in the town and will offer guests panoramic views of the racecourse, as well as race-day hospitality experiences with facilities including the Garden Suite – a conference and events space with a capacity of up to 500 people – and a bistro restaurant and bar.

Tim Banfield, executive director at Doncaster Racecourse, said: “We’re thrilled to have reached this key milestone in the creation of the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel here at Doncaster Racecourse. The hotel’s arrival signifies a step forward for Doncaster’s tourism offering, providing much-needed premium accommodation for racegoers, leisure and business travellers alike.

“We’re excited to now get started on the next phase of development and to move closer towards the hotel’s planned opening in summer 2018.”

Work started on the property in March 2017, with Galliford Try managing the construction.

Cliff Wheatley, managing director of Galliford Try North East and Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to be able to mark this point in the construction of the new Hilton hotel at Doncaster racecourse. It is a great experience for the whole team to be involved with a project like this at an iconic venue like Doncaster, and we look forward to pressing on now and completing the build for this summer.”
