Multi-million-pound plans for Bradford’s landmark Conditioning House approved

Plans have been approved to redevelop Bradford’s Grade-II listed Conditioning House, which has been empty for three decades, into a mixed-use scheme.

Priestley Homes, the Leeds-based developer which specialises in the regeneration of historic buildings, will soon carry out £8.5m of restoration works on the Cape Street building.

A total of 133 one, two and three-bedroom apartments are being built for the young professional market, while Priestley Homes is also creating a residents’ gym and café, as well as 1,350 sq m of managed office space for local businesses.

Prospective residents and occupiers will also benefit from a concierge service and 24-hour on-site security.

An 18-month programme of work is expected to start early in quarter three and will be carried out by the developer’s contracting arm, Priestley Construction.

Nathan Priestley, chief executive officer of Priestley Homes, said: “Conditioning House has been empty for 30 years, so we’re very happy our plans to transform it into a thriving community have been approved by the council.

“Once completed, we believe the development will be one of the best Bradford has to offer, providing high quality living spaces and extra amenities that raise the benchmark for urban living. We can’t wait to launch this development to market for locals and buy-to-let investors alike.

“As a business, we’ve been more than instrumental in breathing new life into several of Bradford’s empty buildings in recent years. It’s encouraging to get the backing for schemes like Conditioning House, which are driving the town’s regeneration even further forward.”
