National Grid powers on with new office move

National Grid is set to move a “significant” proportion of its Leeds operation from Thorpe Park to Crossgates House.
The company manages the UK’s electricity transmission network and will have over 50 staff on the fourth floor of Crossgates House.
Acting on behalf of Praxis Real Estate Management Ltd, Carter Towler secured the 5-year lease with National Grid.
Philip Shopland-Reed, Carter Towler senior surveyor, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a high quality tenant for our client. This is an excellent move for National Grid as the office building is in a great location not only with respect to providing convenient access to a variety of shops, local amenities and transport links with a train station walking distance away but it also has fantastic views across the city.”
In the past 12 months, property consultant Carter Towler has been involved in over 300 deals and currently manages over 2000 properties for its clients nationwide.
Richard Harrison, asset manager at Praxis Real Estate Management, added: “Attracting a FTSE 100 company like National Grid to Crossgates House is a real coup and further justifies the landlord’s decision to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the building.”
Jill Goodman, GVA director, concluded: “Our client National Grid has completed the transaction to a tight timeframe and has secured office space at Crossgates House along with a favourably high car parking ratio.”
