Weekender: Beer and bratwurst return to Leeds

Bier and bratwurst have returned to Leeds as Germany’s largest beer festival is back in the city tonight and tomorrow.

This year’s Oktoberfest Leeds started yesterday and runs tonight and tomorrow on Globe Road, on the South Bank.

One of Germany’s largest traditional festivals and one of the largest beer festivals in the world, Oktoberfest’s Leeds version will set you up for a true celebration – of both beer, and all things Bavarian.

A range of German beers await the Oktoberfest partygoer, but there will also be plenty for the non-beer drinker too, with wine, prosecco and soft drinks also readily available at the bar. Food wise, all the Bavarian favourites  will be on offer, from Bratwurst to Currywurst.

No Oktoberfest is complete without an inhouse oompah band, who will keep the party going all evening (and afternoon) long, with a mixture of singalong hits and Bavarian classics.

James Bolger, Oktoberfest promoter, said: “We can’t wait to transform South Bank Depot into the North of England’s largest Bavarian-style beer hall once again for one weekend only. This year, we’ve gone all out to ensure our guests are treated to the most authentic experience in the region – with Bavarian cuisine, authentic Oktoberfest beer and our resident Oompah band returning to Leeds once again.”

Oktoberfest Leeds tickets are on sale online. Opening times are 4pm-11pm today;  12noon- 5pm and 6pm-11pm tomorrow.
