Acquisitive law firm sees turnover surpass £16m

Switalskis Solicitors has seen growth in profits and turnover after acquiring two departments from a rival firm.

The law firm, which operates from 12 locations across the Yorkshire region, has reported a 36% rise in turnover to £16.1m for the financial year ending 31 March.

During this period Switalskis also saw pre-tax profits soar to £2.26m, compared to the £484,614 achieved at the same time last year.

The firm said that the “main reason” for this significant growth was due to the acquisition of the clinical negligence, brain and serious injury teams from HLW Keeble Hawson, which was completed in November 2016.

Switalskis also continued with its investment programme in the business, which included upgrading all of its IT systems and refurbishing six of its offices.

In recently filed accounts, the firm said: “Despite the challenging legal markets we operate in, the directors believe the company is well placed to take advantage of the opportunities that are currently in the marketplace.

“The directors are also very confident that over the coming years we will increase our turnover and profitability, by firstly growing organically our more profitable departments, identifying high quality lateral hires and bolting on quality departments or firms onto the Switalskis brand.”
