Manufacturing group invests £8m in new production facility

Bradbury Group, the manufacturer of steel doors and physical security solutions, has invested £8m in new headquarters located on Foxhills Industrial Estate in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

The new 135,000 sq ft production facility allows the group to store up to 4,000 finished units, 10 times more than the previous facility, meaning that the it can accommodate and distribute much larger orders.

The facility also comprises a canteen complete with cashless technology and optional salary deduction, extensive car parking, shower facilities and the current development of an in-house gym.

The expansion has support an almost entirely regional staff of over 200, and Bradbury Group said that it is “positive” further employment opportunities are likely to follow.

As a result of this investment, the business has also announced the launch of a new three-day express steel door service, called M2MGO.

Tim Strawson, managing director of Bradbury Group, said: “With growth comes more employment opportunities, particularly for Scunthorpe. The decision to move to a new facility became a necessary investment as we simply outgrew our previous production facility. Since 2010, Bradbury Group has secured a fivefold increase in turnover, and we predict a continued growth of around 20% per year.

“This investment marks the start of a new journey for Bradbury Group. We are aiming high, with the aspiration to be the best and most trusted steel door manufacturer in the world. We’ve invested in infrastructure, machinery and our people, and we’re very proud to continue the company’s growth in our home town of Scunthorpe.”

As part of the expansion, Bradbury Group also invested several million pounds into new machinery to improve production timescales and product quality with minimal manual labour.

Paul Sweeting, technical director at the Bradbury Group, added: “We have not only developed our product range, but have also invested heavily in automation and the purchasing of new machinery to make our manufacturing process as lean as possible.

“We’re very grateful to our customers, partners and staff for their support and patience during the move to the new facility.”
