People: Deloitte announce trio of senior appointments; Family law firm welcomes experienced solicitor; Barclays appoint director; and more

Business advisory firm Deloitte has announced a trio of significant senior appointments.

Jodie Barwick-Bell joins as tax director and head of private client Leeds with a focus on the family office services in the region. She is joined by Michael Stacey as associate director and consultant Andy Gilderdale.

Barwick-Bell brings with her 21 years advising in practice, including working at KPMG and six years in family offices. She has recently been awarded the STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Private Wealth Advising.

Her experience of working in, and with, family offices creates an unrivalled understanding of the intricacies of these unique organisations. Family businesses are also an area in which Barwick-Bell has experience, enhanced by her own family having run a large family business.

She is joined by Michael Stacey as associate director, previously with Grant Thornton. He has worked in the professional practices sector for 12 years, providing tax support at both entity and partner level.

His professional services experience covers the legal (including patent attorneys), property (chartered surveyors, quantity surveyors and architects), business consultants, actuarial and investment management firms.

Former HMRC tax specialist Andy Gilderdale completes the trio of hires, joining as a consultant. Gilderdale has spent the last 14 years working in tax, having worked for several years in HMRC’s Complex Personal Tax Team. He brings with him a wealth of experience dealing with the tax affairs of high net worth individuals, including a number of successful entrepreneurs.

Jones Myers, the Leeds and Harrogate-based family law firm, has appointed family law solicitor Rachel Baul to its team.

Baul’s specialisms include high net worth financial cases involving business and trust assets in the UK and overseas.

Regularly representing sports professionals and members of the medical profession,Baul’s expertise includes pension assets and drafting cohabitation and pre-nuptial/post-nuptial agreements involving significant assets.

A former president of Harrogate & District Law Society, Baul is based at the firm’s Harrogate office at Windsor House.

Barclays has announced the appointment of Alexandra Fogal to the Yorkshire Larger Corporate team.

Fogal joins the team as a Business Development Director and will be responsible for looking after the needs of larger businesses with a turnover of £6.5m upwards across Yorkshire.

Fogal, who has over 16 years’ experience in business and relationship management for Barclays, started her career as a graduate in the Corporate banking scheme and more recently has been supporting Larger Corporate clients with their future planning and funding needs.

Fogal said: “I’m delighted to be part of the Larger Corporate expansion plans and hope to play a big part in our ambitious growth plans for Yorkshire.

“With the ever strengthening team we will be well placed to take advantage of the opportunities within Yorkshire supporting our larger Corporates with their more complex needs.”

Haddleton Legal, the Harrogate-based law firm, has recruited data specialist Katie Parratt to support the growth of its life sciences and technology division and the development of its online legal and compliance training portal, Haddleton Academy.

Parratt specialises in medical informatics and will also be tasked with designing new systems and processes to support the law firm’s expansion and improve client and team experience.
