People: Law firm appoints four new partners; Property consultancy strengthens its team; Manufacturer welcomes construction director

York-based law firm Langleys Solicitors has announced the appointment of four new partner appointments and expansion into Manchester.

Langleys now has 34 partners and 48 solicitors, offering specialist legal advice in all areas of law.

The four new partners are all specialists in their areas of law, meaning clients across a range of practice areas including commercial, insurance and personal law will benefit from each of the newly appointed partners. James Knowles will be based in York and is a private client lawyer who joins from Weightmans, specialising in high net worth individuals.

Peter Oakes is a counter-fraud specialist with 22 years experience and will head up the Manchester office. Richard Tomlinson is a dispute resolution lawyer with experience dealing with complex and high value commercial disputes and Martin Smith is corporate solicitor who has acted on many complex, high profile and high value deals – both of whom will be based in Lincoln.

David Thompson, Langley Solicitors Managing Partner, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Martin, Peter, James and Richard to the team, and to announce Langleys’ expansion into the North West.

“As a firm, we are committed to investing in our people and to achieving profitable growth. Delivering a quality service to our clients is our number one priority and we are delighted to be bringing this talented team of partners on board to help us achieve our strategic objectives.”

A Leeds based property consultancy has further strengthened its team with the appointment of a new surveyor.

Harry Fullerton joins Gent Visick from Manchester based Davies Harrison. He has also previously worked for Lambert Smith Hampton in Manchester and within the in-house estates team of Pets at Home.

Fullerton will work across the agency, development and investment divisions of Gent Visick, all of which have been involved in many of the North of England’s most notable property deals over the last 12 months. Harry’s appointment reflects the continued growth of Gent Visick, which also opened a London office last summer.

He said: “Having spent almost five years in the property industry in the North West, I was keen to use that knowledge and experience to progress my career in Yorkshire. I know some of the Gent Visick team from my University days, and the company’s reputation as a leading player in the North, that is also building a London presence, attracted me to the business. It’s a chance for me to join a really talented team and I felt it was a great fit.”

Rupert Visick, managing director at Gent Visick, said: “Harry will bring another dimension to the firm with his in-depth knowledge of the North West market. His experience in the industrial sector, solid work ethic and enthusiasm for what we do will no doubt benefit our clients.”

Gent Visick is a leading niche property consultancy providing support during acquisitions, sales, lettings and investment transactions. Its services include industrial agency, building consultancy, investment and strategic consultancy.
