Property services firm invests £600,000 in new headquarters

B38 Group, the Wakefield-based facilities management firm, is set to move to a large new headquarters in the centre of Wakefield as part of its plans to 30 new head office staff.

The £12.5m-turnover business provides a full range of commercial property support services with a focus on property maintenance. B38 has a team of 100 field-based engineers as well as an additional 50 people at its head office.

Throughout last year, B38 Group has won more than 25 national service contracts as it has increased its presence in the logistics sector and in student accommodation.

As a result of this growth, the company outgrew its previous base on the outskirts of Wakefield on Denby Dale Road, and has now taken a five year lease for over 6,500 sq ft of Grade A office space at No 2 Burgage Square in Merchant Gate, next to Wakefield Westgate Station.

Following a £600,000 investment, B38 Group’s new headquarters feature open plan office space as well as meeting rooms and its own reception.

Richard Philips, director of B38 Group, said: “The business has seen phenomenal growth over the last few years as we have focussed on delivering a quality proposition and investing in the latest facilities management technology to keep us at the forefront of the sector.

“Clients trust us to provide a bespoke service and find a solution to their building-related maintenance issues, and we’ve expanded our team to ensure we are able to continue to provide this.

“Our move to larger offices in the centre of Wakefield gives us the space we need as we continue to grow, as well as providing prestigious office space in a convenient location – it puts us in an ideal position to attract more talent as we develop our ambitious plans for further growth.”

Fellow director Tim Bailey added: “Located in the heart of Wakefield, close to the station, our new home in Burgage Square will give visiting clients a convenient, modern space as well as providing an improved working environment and twice as much space for our ever growing team.”

Over the last 12 months, B38 Group has recruited another 60 staff, including 15 in Wakefield, and plans to grow its national team to over 350 people during 2019.

In January, B38 Group announced its acquisition of Woods Building Maintenance in Leeds as part of its strategic plan to increase the number of services it can deliver in-house.
