Grade Two listed building to be re-developed into student accommodation

A prominent grade II listed building in Sheffield is being refurbished to create a 356-bed student accommodation block.

Building services company Briggs & Forrester Living confirmed it has now secured the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services contract for Park Hill Phase 3. This will feature studio apartments and two bedroom apartments as well as four and eight bed clusters once the redevelopment is complete.

The scheme will also have a commercial area to provide residents with services such as a newsagents, café and a new work space for businesses.

It is set to be ready for occupation for the 2020-2021 academic year.

The seven-storey property was designed by architects Whittam Cox and has become a familiar landmark on the Sheffield skyline.

Working in collaboration with the main contractor Kier, Briggs & Forrester Living will be responsible for installing services including heating and cooling, external lighting, fire alarms and switchgear.

The company is a division of the Briggs & Forrester Group, which has a £222m turnover and offices across the country, including a base in Sheffield.
