Waste recycling firm set to occupy 87,000 sq ft premises

A plastic packaging waste recycling specialist has signed a 10-year lease on a new headquarters in Leeds.

Work is now under way to prepare the 87,000 sq ft space within the Copperworks 2 site, in Haigh Park Road, Stourton, for OSO Polymers.

The business has agreed the lease with property lettings expert Towngate PLC.

OSO will benefit from a refurbished plastics plant, which includes a clear working height of 9.7 meters, The move will also help with its reprocessing of plastics to produce general-purpose resins and engineering polymers.

Ground level loading bays will be used to transfer waste materials into granules for use in transformation processes – an initiative that aligns with Leeds City Council’s aim to increase recycling.

Tong Shen, director at OSO Polymers, said: “We are very pleased to set up our first UK plastic recycling facility in this extensively refurbished premises, on a well-established historical industrial location within the Leeds area.

“I am confident the site and the extremely supportive team of Towngate will meet our business needs well into the future, as OSO continues to grow.”

John Wignall, property director at Brighouse-based Towngate PLC, added: “We are delighted to have facilitated this letting.

“I have no doubt OSO will settle well into this prime industrial location – just minutes from the city centre – on the outskirts of Leeds. The site is certainly ideally positioned for this particular industry.

“We are marketing the remaining 180,000 sq ft space within Copperworks 2 on the Haigh Park Road site, and a refurbishment of this historic building is due to take place shortly.”

Leeds-based Gent Visick and Knight Frank acted for Towngate PLC on the Copperworks 2 facility.
