Work begins on 78,458 sq ft industrial development

A speculative commercial development has started near Rotherham, with work due to be finished at the end of this year.

Trebor/Hillwood and the selected contractor, MCS Group, are building the 78,458 sq ft industrial unit less than 2.5 miles from Junction 31 of the M1.

When complete, the building will be suitable for logistics, distribution or manufacturing. It forms part of Trebor/Hillwood’s national development pipeline of similar industrial developments totaling three million sq ft over the next 18 months.

Bob Tattrie, Managing Partner of Trebor Developments, said: “We are delighted to have selected MCS Group as our main contractor and to see work proceeding on site.

“This is the second major construction project we have awarded MCS, and the development will provide quality industrial accommodation to meet local and regional occupier needs.”

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Cabinet Member of Jobs and the Local Economy, Councillor Denise Lelliott, said: “We know there is a market out there for high-quality commercial property, so this is a very welcome investment.

“The completed units will be let to inward investors or expanding local companies, which will support business growth in the borough and provide high-value lasting employment for residents.”

Tim Perkins, Group Development Director at MCS Group, said: “We are very pleased to be working alongside Trebor Developments on its latest warehouse development.

“With work on site now underway, we are expecting to make good progress through the summer and should reach practical completion before the end of the year.”

Trebor/Hillwood are advised by agents CBRE (Leeds), CPP (Sheffield) and Knight Frank (Sheffield).
