Search is on for Yorkshire’s Top Tech 2019

The Leeds office of national law firm Mills & Reeve has today launched its search for Yorkshire’s most pioneering technology companies.

Following the success of last year’s event, Mills & Reeve’s Top Tech: Yorkshire 2019, in partnership with TheBusinessDesk.com, is once again looking to celebrate Yorkshire’s cutting-edge companies which are putting the region on the map as a growing hub for technological development and innovation.

Top Tech: Yorkshire is open to companies which have developed world-leading technology, are disrupting markets across all industries and whose technology and services are helping others become leaders in their fields across the region.

They are looking for companies across all sub-sectors including Healthtech and Medtech, whose innovations are transforming the delivery of healthcare and the health and wellbeing of patients, and in education where EdTech businesses are improving the performance of our educational institutions, teachers and students.

The judges also want to hear from companies in the FinTech sector where technological advancements are revolutionising the delivery of financial services; in Agritech where technology is being used to solve problems in agriculture, farming, food production and distribution, or PropTech companies who are changing the face of the real estate sector in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

Entrants will be judged on technological innovation, leadership, growth and financial performance, client service and delivery and employee engagement.

The judging panel is made up of people who live and breathe the technology sector, and includes:

  • Chelsea Boothroyd, engagement manager, Nexus
  • Paul Johnson, partner in the corporate team at the Leeds office of Mills & Reeve
  • Peter Rowe, consultant, WH Ireland
  • Richard Carter, managing director, Equiniti Credit Services
  • Richard Faulkner, managing director, technology banking at Silicon Valley Bank
  • Stuart Clarke, festival director, Leeds Digital Festival
  • Heather Niven, business and innovation consultant
  • Mel Kanarek, director and co-founder, Sheffield Digital

Johnson said: “We launched the Top Tech last year and were delighted with the large number of entries from high-calibre companies whose technology has helped catapult Yorkshire’s reputation as a technology hub and hotbed of innovation.

“The technology sector is a major sector focus for Mills & Reeve and, following last year’s success, we decided once again to showcase the region’s pioneering and transformational companies and celebrate their achievements both in the region and on the world stage.”

Boothroyd added: “I’m really excited to be involved with Top Tech: Yorkshire, our region has an incredible amount of talent and is home to an array of innovative, high growth businesses so it’s great to take the time to recognise and celebrate them.”

Entries will close on 4 October. The companies who made it into the Top Tech: Yorkshire will be revealed at the launch event on November 7 at The Shears Yard in Leeds.

The companies will be featured in a printed copy of the Top Tech: Yorkshire report which will be published on TheBusinessdesk.com and available for download the following day
