People: New Chief Financial Officer at law firm; Two senior appointments at TransUnion; and more

Martin Hume, currently Finance and Risk Director at Minster Law, has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective immediately.

CFO is a new role for the Wakefield-based law firm, and Hume will report to CEO Shirley Woolham.

Woolham said: “Martin has proved himself an exceptional member of the Minster Law executive team, and I’m delighted that he will continue to help oversee the transformation of Minster Law into a market-leading insurance legal services business.”

Hume said: “This is an exciting time for our sector, as the old claims world gives way to a digitally-enabled, customer centric sector where claimant businesses, like Minster Law, that have invested in technology to vastly improve the customer claims journey, will thrive and expand, including into other products and services.

“I’m looking forward to helping the executive and management teams achieve Minster Law’s long-term strategic aims.”

Hume graduated from Leeds University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG in 2001.

Since then he has held a number of finance positions across both the insurance and outsourcing sectors, including Direct Line Group (2006-2012) and outsourcing specialist Ventura (2003-2006).

Shail Deep

Leeds-based global information and insights provider TransUnion has announced two new executive appointments – Chief Product Officer, Shail Deep and Chief Information Officer, Ann-Marie Orange.

Deep, who has over 20 years’ experience – both in the UK and globally – across retail banking and technology consulting, joins the business as chief product officer.

She will be fuelling new product innovation, ensuring robust product quality and delivery, sourcing and incorporating new data assets and delivering valuable analytic insights and solutions.

Previously she spent 16 years at HSBC, where she oversaw strategic partnerships and innovation globally for HSBC retail banking and wealth management.

During her time there, Deep was responsible for developing innovative customer propositions and solutions through strategic partnerships with tech companies across retail banking products (cards, loans, mortgages, payments and transaction banking).

She has also held various leadership roles across cards, payments, risk, fraud, loyalty and proposition development spanning the UK, US, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

“TransUnion is poised for a phase of growth here in the UK and I’m thrilled to be joining the executive team at such a pivotal moment,” she said.

“As we continue to enhance our products and services in the UK, mirroring our successful global offering, there is a fantastic opportunity for TransUnion to help even more businesses and consumers to benefit from the powerful insights that we derive from our data.”

Having joined the business in October 2014, Orange was appointed to the executive team in September 2019 and is responsible for directing and leading the IT operations to design, build, run and oversee all products; providing service and support to customers.

Ann-Marie Orange

With over 25 years’ experience in IT, her areas of expertise include optimising organisation structure and operating models, IT business delivery, product delivery, IT strategy and execution, and establishing governance models to deliver enterprise capability.

She said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining the executive team as we prepare to grow and enhance our infrastructure and service capabilities, capitalising on our global products and services.

“We’ll be continuing to develop our leading technology platforms with ongoing investment, whilst ensuring we deliver excellent customer service, with our clients and consumers at the heart of everything we do.”

Satrajit “Satty” Saha, CEO of TransUnion in the UK, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome both Shail Deep and Ann-Marie Orange to our UK executive team, to help us deliver on our ambitious growth strategy and ensure we are at the forefront of product innovation and service delivery.”
