Top Tech: Yorkshire class of 2018 celebrate a stellar year

Tim Mercer, chief executive of Vapour Cloud

The winners of Mills & Reeve’s Top Tech: Yorkshire 2018 have had a stellar year which has seen them secure funding, boost sales, attract new talent and forge exciting new partnerships.

And with this year’s event now open for entries, the class of 2018 have shared how the Top Tech: Yorkshire helped boost their business.

Top Tech: Yorkshire 2019, in partnership with TheBusinessDesk.com, is open to companies which have developed world-leading technology, are disrupting markets across all industries and whose technology and services are helping others become leaders in their fields across the region.

Adam Hildreth is CEO and founder of social media safety and crisis monitoring firm Crisp. He says the firm has grown significantly in the last 12 months, doubling headcount to 200 in Leeds and expanding in the US. It has also secured $25m of funding from an American venture capitalist.

Hildreth says that being part of Top Tech: Yorkshire has increased their profile locally and made recruiting new talent easier. He says: “It has increased the visibility of our business. A lot of our work is around the world with global brands but locally we need to recruit the best possible talent. Historically, we haven’t had much exposure in the region but being part of The Top Tech: Yorkshire has been fantastic in increasing our profile therefore enabling us to recruit better.”

Halifax-based Vapour Cloud is one of the region’s fastest growing tech companies. The organisation, which is a cloud-first digital transformation specialist that delivers secure voice, video, networks and infrastructure to UK businesses, has had an excellent year.

Founder Tim Mercer said the company has signed new channel partnerships, boosted its senior executive team and is predicting business-wide growth of 50 per cent for 2019.

Mercer said: “Featuring in Top Tech: Yorkshire was the icing on the cake of a really fantastic year for the team. It acted as independent recognition of the hard work we had ploughed into our ongoing growth, customer satisfaction and unswerving product innovation.

“I truly believe that Yorkshire is one of the most vibrant places to be when it comes to the tech scene, and this report is testament to that. We look forward to seeing who will feature on the 2019 line up.”

Achille Traore is CEO of White Label Loyalty. Its platform is being implemented worldwide, providing tailored digital loyalty and powerful engagement tools to businesses. White Label Loyalty has forged strong relationships with many major chains and most recently won Burger King Europe as a customer.

Achille says: “In the last 12 months we have won a number of big clients and expanded the business internationally. When we entered Top Tech: Yorkshire last year it was excellent to see the number of quality tech businesses in the region and I would encourage companies to apply. It is great for profile raising and enables you to interact with like-minded businesses. We met some great companies one of which we are looking at collaborating with, so it provides fantastic networking opportunities.”

Entrants to Top Tech: Yorkshire will be judged on technological innovation, leadership, growth and financial performance, client service and delivery and employee engagement.

Entries will close on 4 October. The companies who made it into the Top Tech: Yorkshire will be revealed at the launch event on November 7 at The Shears Yard in Leeds.

The companies will be featured in a printed copy of the Top Tech: Yorkshire report which will be published on TheBusinessdesk.com and available for download the following day.
