York-based Internal communications consultancy scarlettabbott continues to grow with the appointment of Lead Behavioural Scientist Lindsay Kohler.

Kohler, who previously supported employee engagement for some of Silicon Valley’s largest tech companies and held senior roles at Segal Benz and Nordstom, will bring her strategic insight to the agency’s portfolio of global clients.

Kohler’s expertise, which lie in the application of behavioural economics to improve employee engagement, aligns with scarlettabbott’s mission to underpin internal communications with robust scientific understanding and measurable impact.

This academic shift is fundamentally important explained Kohler, who added: “The role of internal communications is vital for driving organisational change but for too long in many businesses, the IC function has struggled to get beyond the perception of a post room.

“Deep scientific understanding of what motivates people to act combined with internal communications best practices is the key to unlocking real and sustainable change that transforms employee engagement and, in turn, the bottom line.

“scarlettabbott is absolutely championing the significance of behavioural science and, with that understanding, we can help our clients discover the most effective narratives and channels to engage their people.”

Kohler, a regular thought leadership contributor, authoring insightful industry whitepapers and reports, is a welcome addition to the team of expert practitioners, said Director and Co-Founder Rachel Thornton.

Thornton said: “Increasingly, our clients are looking for new and innovative change solutions that can also demonstrate intrinsic value to their leadership teams. We know that behavioural economics are a key driver of impactful communication in the evolving world of work.

“We are extremely excited to have Lindsay on board. Her wealth of expertise is an incredible asset to the team and will prove a major strategic advantage to our clients.”

Still fresh into her role, Kohler has already impressed senior internal communications and HR professionals with her insights at September’s Driving Change Conference in London, where she revealed the ‘lessons from behavioural science every IC professional should know.’
