Awards will celebrate achievements of young leaders

Young entrepreneurs and leaders are the lifeblood of the economy.

The young leaders of today will be driving our economy forward for many years to come.

And TheBusinessDesk.com is celebrating the achievements of young leaders at its first ever Northern Leadership Awards.

The awards, which are supported by law firm CMS, celebrate the people and organisations across the North who are role models for their teams and raise the bar for their competitors.

The awards follow the success of the Yorkshire Leadership Awards last year.

The shortlist aims to showcase the best qualities of modern leadership – of inspiration, collaboration and empowerment.

The winners will be announced at an awards dinner which will be a celebration of the transformational impact great leaders are having in our region here and now.

Mark Haywood from CMS said: “Leadership sets a vision, creates agendas and sees opportunities others might not see. Leadership in companies and organisations makes the difference between excellence and mediocrity or failure. Our companies in the North have that in abundance.”

Ten people were entered for the award category and a shortlist of five is in the running.

The names on the shortlist include Mike Anderson from Padoq, Kate Barnes from Utiligroup, Matthew Hemmings from Openreach, Louise Myers from CG Professional and Peter Sawrij from Thomas Coombs.

The winner will be announced at the event which is being compered by BBC journalist Nina Warhurst.
