972-room student village launches

A new student village with space for more than 970 residents which includes a 17-storey tower has officially opened in Sheffield.

Student Roost has opened Hollis Croft on the corner of Broad Lane and Tenter Street in the city centre. Students from Sheffield’s International College, the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University have all signed up to the new scheme.

Onsite facilities include cinema room, gym, games room, relaxing communal lounge, hosting kitchen, two karaoke rooms, study space and outdoor courtyards.

Spread across four buildings, Hollis Croft boasts 972 total rooms, made up of 6 one-bedroom apartments, 6 two-bedroom apartments, 611 en-suite rooms spread over 101 clusters and 349 studios. There are 10 accessible rooms.

Flagship Hollis Croft is the result of a three-year build. The project, which is the first new build accommodation for the company, comprises of a total of 38,600 m² of floor space.  The property is the 49th from Student Roost.

A large amount of cycle parking has been provided with an emphasis on reducing car usage.
